Sinefa probes perform inspection of SSL flows for the purposes of application classification. Based on information contained in the SSL exchange, we can classify applications accordingly. We also support defining custom applications based on SSL properties (such as the certificate 'common name').
We perform analysis and report on SSL-enabled flows, like any other flow, including byte and packet counts, throughput, TCP Health and RTT.
Sinefa automatically reports on the website URL for a SSL / HTTPS session. This is done by inspecting the 'common name' on the certificate.
We do not decrypt SSL flows and inspect their secure contents.
