You may have custom in-house applications that don't have an application signature stored in our database, you have the option to add in your own definition so that it will start getting captured in the reporting.
- Go into Settings > Applications within the Sinefa Porta
- Select Add Application
- Enter in the details required to be able to start capturing this app utilization data. Please note: you're not required to fill in all fields but at least fill in enough detail to be able to identify this application
- Once you have filled in the application details, select Apply then go into Sinefa Live and start seeing that data getting classified under your new application definition!
In the above example, what we used to identify our application was the website (www.customapplication.com) and the TCP port that it communicates on (TCP port: 22)
Each field explained
|Name||The name you want the application/website traffic to be identified as in your live streaming/reporting i.e. Facebook|
|Hosts||The IP address/subnet of the server/host that the application traffic originates from i.e. 192.168.0.10, 220.127.116.11/24, etc.|
|Websites||The source URL of the traffic that you want captured within your reporting i.e. www.facebook.com|
|TCP Ports||The TCP port(s) the traffic you want captured in your reporting is communicating on, this can either be entered in as specific ports (53) or a range of ports (2040-2048)|
|UDP Ports||The UDP port(s) the traffic you want captured in your reporting is communicating on, this can either be entered in as specific ports (53) or a range of ports (2040-2048)|
|Protocol||The standard protocol that the traffic being generated is communicating on, you would enter in the protocol's numeric value rather than the common name i.e. ICMP you would enter in 1, IPSEC you would enter in 50, TCP you would enter in 6, etc. See here for a list of protocols and their numeric values|
|Aliases||This is for Sinefa internal use, this doesn't require an entry and is used only for our pre-loaded application signatures|
|Tags||The tag you want your custom application definition to fall under i.e. All Social Networking, All Web Browsing, etc.|
