Host Based Shaping
Host Based Shaping can be enabled if you would like to set a bandwidth limit to one or more hosts which will not let the hosts go over that limit at any given time.
For Example: Consider a bridge has 100 Mbps bandwidth in and out. If there are few hosts which need to be restricted to 5 Mbps then host based shaping can be enabled for those hosts. As the link capacity is 100 Mbps, if there are 20 active hosts then each host will be able to use 5Mbps. If there are 40 hosts then each host will be able to use 2.5 Mbps as the load is balanced equally to all the hosts as per shaping.
For instance, if there only 10 hosts connected then each host will be allocated 5Mbps and there will be 50Mbps capacity on the link which will be free to use.
